Lunch with Prole: I know someone who knows someone who might know someone

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 13:16, 28 February '07

Come on, we all love it if we have the slightest weeniest connection to someone who has 'done something' either in music, film, art, refuse collecting or falconry, whatever - why is this?

Does it somehow make us feel 'important' that someone who is doing well and maybe revered in the eyes of everyone you fel will care will somehow rub off on you and all of a sudden you'll share such accolades? I find it hard to believe that right now those vey same people are going, "Oh yeah, Prole I knew him when he was working behind a bar for 2.34 an hour - look how well he's done, getting consumed by typos on a music website etc"

Also you don't get people saying "yeah Ian Huntely, I knew him when he was just starting out" would you? Of course its also a bit 'annoying' if you knew someone who's gone on to 'do well' but really all you can do is wish them well, but to somehow feel saying that you 'knew them' or 'know them' really means nothing to anyone but yourself - at a push.

Agree of disagree?
