Should the government give grants to 'modern' musicians?

cunt [Edit] [Delete] 16:13, 23 February '07

The Irish government (probably the British too) give out grants for the
arts, including music. I notice the only musicians that seem to benefit
from these grants are classical/Opera/Jazz musicians. This is most likely
because the people who decide who gets the money are older types who would
consider 'pop' music low culture.

Should the money be shared out equally (pay for recording/rehearsal space
for struggling bands/artists) or do you think it would be too hard to
decide who is deserving of a grant and that the system would be abused?
Does the notion of a pop band receiving some of your tax money make you
feel uneasy?
Is it too late on a friday for a discussion?
Should I grow my hair long again?
