What's with it? Paranoia? Wanting to make sure your page is as fucking cool as possible and therefore, inevitably, it will be somewhat contrived?

I left a comment up on a FRIEND'S site earlier this week (a real friend) and note that it hasn't been approved - it wasn't anything rude, malicious, or pornographic. This has happened before (with this person). I'm noticing more and more sites requiring 'comment approval' - Christ, how utterly BORING - live a little.
