You have to have it so you can leave the sink free to rinse stuff. Putting soapy dishes on the side is a no-no.

Also, sinks are put in to be at the perfect height for the average woman which is, I think, about 5'2" or something dwarven. So I need a bowl so I can put it on the counter next to the sink and thus wash up without getting back ache.
