I'm moving rooms in my house - have decided to move into the larger room of the two. I want to get it really cosy and comfy.. it's basically painted a really cool dark grey shell, with a bed that is cream.. I am thinking lots of colour - gold, rich pink, aquas and royal purples... brighter colours. I also want a big fat fuck off mirror...

ANYWAY - I want to actually get a hold of some second hand furniture (dressers, picture frames, lamp shades) and do some re-upholstering myself - I'll have the room and the space to do it, and I love a bit of good DIY sometimes.

Can anyone recommend:

- shops I can get some great second hand furniture (in London) from that I can pull apart, paint and do things with? I look at EBAY but it seems that all the good stuff is like, miles away and I don't have a car to be able to go and collect these things....

- any tips on re-upholstering furniture (I have a basic idea but if we have any particularly hands on people on DiS, I'd love to get chatting)?

- is it cheap to hire things like nail guns and so on?
