the oystercard/travelcard nexus

deadcats [Edit] [Delete] 21:02, 15 January '07

Right.

So if I want to get to work before 9, a Zone 1/2 travel card is 6.60. Multiply that by 5 days a week and you get £33 a week. If I want to go out on a weekend too, both days, that's £5.10 a day for two days, which makes £10.20. My total expenditure without using an Oystercard is £43.20.

Even if I worked after peak time, it would still be £5.10 x 7 = £35.70 for the week.

I just bought a weekly Zone 1/2 pass using Oyster. The new Oyster cost me £23.20 INCLUDING the £3 deposit, which means it's £20.20 without.

£43.20 versus £20.20? What, exactly, the fucking fuck is the government's agenda here? Why is travelling without Oyster so shamelessly overpriced?

Pah!
