"all guitars sound the same, basically"

TheoGB [Edit] [Delete] 15:09, 15 January '07

"pickups/fx/amps/playing technique is what matters"

So said alcxxk in my Gibson-SG thread. I'm not sure I agree.

On the one hand I like my guitar to sound a certain way, so whatever guitar I pick up I adjust the amp until it sounds about the same, regardless.

And if you're going to stick in SHED LOADS of distorted delay then there's not much point worrying about what guitar you have.

On the other hand, you can hear that jangly Jaguar sort of sound compared to Les Paul, surely? And you can't scrape behind the bridge at all with a Les Paul or SG, really. You can't sound like Sonic Youth with an SG.
