OK - my mini hi-fi DIED. It's fucked. Which is good because it means I get to invest in some spangly new stuff.

I already have an iPod but don't really use it except for when I'm in transit, on PT (public transport) and so on.

I want to buy some decent new equipment for essentially, bedroom use only.

Not sure whether to buy a really nice iPod docking station as most of my stuff will go online anyhow... OR whether to invest in a little compact hifi thingy and then connect the iPod up to it.

Any suggestions or thoughts on what I could get?

Sound quality is of UBER importance (naturally).
