apparently the word trivia comes from roman times - whenever 3 roads converged, they put an information kiosk there, telling people where the roads went. i find this i little hard to beleive tho.

also, "get the sack" refers to older times in this country, to people who wokred on farms. If the farmer decided you were shit at your job, he'd leave your tools in a sack on the doorstep, meaning you had to go.
