i got stopped by the City of London police last night

guntrip [Edit] [Delete] 01:14, 31 December '06

it was pretty funny, and went a bit like this:

Scene: St Mary Le Grande, EC1, City of London. It's dark, it's raining, and the hero (DanielJGuntrip) is staggering towards a bus stop so London's plentiful public transport network can whisk him home. A police van pulls up alongside him, and the back door opens. An officer (Officer #1) steps out, while the officer (Officer #2) occupying the passenger, seat rolls down his window.

Officer #1: Excuse me Sir, what are you doing?

DanielJGuntrip: I'm going to the bus stop.

Officer #1: Why were you staring into that basement?

DanielJGuntrip: (confused) .... what?

Officer #1: You were staring into that basement. Why were you staring into that basement?

DanielJGuntrip: (even more confused) ..... really, what?

Officer #1: Where have you come from?

DanielJGuntrip: My friend's flat.

Officer #1: And where is that?

DanielJGuntrip: Little Britain. She asked me to come and see her, but I think she's passed out as she wasn't answering her phone.

Officer #2: (interrupting) And where are you going now?

DanielJGuntrip: The bus stop. To get a bus home.

Officer #2: And where is home?

DanielJGuntrip: Tufnell Park.

Officer #2: Uh huh.

DanielJGuntrip: (resisting all urges to unleash a torrent of sarcasm) Do you mind if I go home?

Officer #2: (to Officer #1) Is it ok?

Officer #1: .... I guess so.

DanielJGuntrip: Well, thank you.

Officer #1: Yes.

(All Officers then jump back into their van, this heinous situation clearly averted, and race off to continue the unending fight against terrorists and criminals in the Square Mile. Hurrah for their brave efforts, and God Save The Queen!)

amazing.
