I do this all the time when I'm on my own.

And it's not like I'm a big talker when other people are around, I just like to have a constant dialogue (monologue?) with myself or a commentary on what's going on.

I have been caught out doing it in the street or in front of friends and I always get weird looks....

Do you talk to yourself? WHY?
