Children In Need

Judge_B [Edit] [Delete] 10:09, 17 November '06

What a great idea and a good cause it is, in essence. Anyone that doesn't want to hear me whine about what is a worthy way to raise money, look away... now.

There are people in reception waving buckets trying to raise money, and just beyond them is the table of ladies selling cakes. Cakes that they've bought from the local supermarket, mind.

Get past that and sit at your desk, there are people coming round badgering you in to buying a raffle ticket. Or buying another shop-made cake. Now, I'm not going to tell you if I already donate to charity or not because I don't think one has any bearing on the other, but shouldn't you be able to donate volutarily rather than feel press-ganged in to doing it? I have so far rejected every money-giving advance made to me this morning, but that leaves me resenting them and them thinking that I am a tight bastard that would rather children all over the world were left to struggle. I assure you this isn't the case.

This is without being subjected to whatever shite will be on telly to accompany this. Are charity donations becoming less volutary and more expected?
