Music Social More…

So NME.COM won the DMA...

Yep.

Now, I'm not bitter about this. Hell, I didn't even go the the ceremony - electing to sit in the pub for two hours and then going to see my girlfriend.

But seriously. Answer me this:

How does a website where the only exclusive online content is news qualify as the best online music magazine in the world?

Honestly?

A web site where major labels pay to have their digital/multimedia content featured on the front page of an ageing, slowly more irrelevant brand's website.

A brand where even the sixteen year olds who the magazine is aimed at are embarassed to admit they read it?

An instituion that once stood for great journalism and a knack of weeding the wheat from the chaff.

I'm at a loss as to how a website that offers so little in the way of unique, enthralling and dynamic content can win an award of this nature.

As I say, I'm not upset at all. Had PopJustice or Playlouder won, I'd have nothing to offer other than congratulations.

But, NME.COM? Seriously?

Nah.
