The irony of BT

JustJay [Edit] [Delete] 16:35, 26 September '06

I've never encountered anyone or anything so hard to contact, which, for a telecoms company, is pretty surprising.

I moved house on Friday and need to arrange for a phone line/broadband to be switched on.

1) I phoned on Monday, only to be told that they were very busy on Mondays, and that I should either phone back on a Tuesday, or use their website
2) I tried their website, which only offered me the chance to enter my details to have someone call me back within THREE DAYS. I couldn't even do this, though, as my postcode wasn't recognised (new build)
3) I phoned them this morning, and finally got through to their throw a 6 to start phone system. After half an hour on hold, I gave up, since I'm at work.
4) I phoned again a little while ago, and after 5 minutes on the phone listening to a ringing tone, I got an option to be called back within an hour on the number of my choosing. Why didn't I get this sooner!

Why on earth does it take so long to contact a communications company?
and why is it going to cost me ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE POUNDS to switch an already installed phone-line on, if they do eventually call me back?

FUME.
