Lunch with Prole: Is the car necessary?

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 14:09, 31 August '06

Sorry a dull one today - I know its easy to say 'yes' if you live in a city and are near so many forms of subsidised forms of transport but look around you and all you see is Cars Cars Cars (soon to be the name of a Canadian band?) - I like cars, I love classic models, I love silly things like the Ford Corsair or the Austin Healey and the thingy whatsamacallit etc, but really, apart from for trade, do cars need to exist, do we need them - is it for movement or for status - I mean th revolutions in industry and agriculture didn't come about because Jethro Tull or James Brindly weren't in car-pools with their fellow inventors now did they? Apart from trains and buses and freight and taxis and deliveries the emergency services, I no.

God that was even boring to type.
