Lunch with Prole: How reliant are we on 'mobile music'?

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 14:59, 4 August '06

I left my I-pod at home today and as I needed to get the train I felt a tremor of discomfort when I realised that I would have no music to listen to and also nothing to block out the frankly disagreeable conversations of fellow travellers. This got me thinking that either a) I can't abide the voices of strangers or b) I am totally reliant on mobile music - so do you think we could not live without 'personal stereos', from 'walkmans' to 'iRivers' - could we walk down the street, jog, or catch a train without a constant stream of music to keep us ensconsed in our own worlds?

In other news I've bet my house that Portsmouth are mid table mediocrities
