I'm thinking of getting one. But I'm now caught between getting an MiniDV one (as I have a bunch of tapes from my old broken one from a few years back), one that writes to DVD directly and a hard-drive based one or similar.

The last option is probably hideously expensive, but I just wondered if anyone had used a few and had any views on the best and worst?
