The first thing you notice is that everyone starts congregating around your desk, and then your boss appears with a couple of cards. A few words, a round of applause that everyone on your floor can hear (causing them to turn around and gawp at you) and, hey presto! Instant acute embarrassment, coupled with workmates expecting a speech which comes out as nothing more than a mumbled 'Thanks, everyone'.

Still, the vouchers come in handy, eh?
