does anyone think they have different ideas about what is 'acceptable' from genre to genre?

i was thinking earlier that i'm probably more likely to accept poor lyrics from a hip-hop or electronic track than i am from an 'indie-rock' band. i can't put my finger on the reason why.

i think i'm also more likely to accept poor production/sound quality from an 'indie-rock' (ugh) song than from hip-hop electro.
