The Flygarricks

Not heard of 'em? Not surprised. But you will have, within the next 18 months, I can assure you.

Wouldn't usually take the time to big up a mate's band (my old tea n' playstation partner in krime at uni, Rye, is bass player/songwriter- although they do actually share writing duties) but these guys really are special. I've gotta couple of their demos and they're white hot, they're one of the best new bands around. They already have management and a label will follow soon, then they can prove once and for all that the Darkness aren't even the best band in Loewstoft, let alone the world.

The singer, Nick, sounds like a cross between Liam G and the Wurzels! That is actually a good thing, in the same way that Pete and Carl from the Libertines sound like a cross between Chas n' Dave and the Jam/Clash, (vocally). Regional British accents are the way forward for rock. As are very English lyrics, a la the aforementioned

I'm so confident that you'll like them that I'll stake my reputation on them (not that I have one - yet... give me 18 months as well!)

Check them out if you can, they play small London venues quite regular, you'll see what I mean.
