Lyric/Tab websites

Durutti [Edit] [Delete] 09:04, 20 December '05

Picked this up from another forum. Apparently the The Music Publishers' Association (MPA) has launched a crackdown on sites that offer tabs, sheet music and lyrics to stop copyright infringement.
You can argue the merits of this if you want but what wound me up was that people campaigning against this crackdown have been sent an email by John Reed who is a member of the Hampton String Quartet.

He say: "Personally, I think there are way too many people out there who fancy themselves musicians because they have learnt a few chords on the guitar. That is no more a musician than you would be a lawyer if you read a chapter in a law book. If you are serious enough, you will pay for the privilege. Try going to Juilliard for 10 years, music camps during the summer - studying theory, solfege, dictation, analysis, music history and practicing the cello every day for 3 hours since the age of 6. How much money do you think that took? None of my teachers offered their services for free."

What a bell end.
