Music Social More…

Credibility, artistic integrity and its importance in the music you listen to

kingofscunthorpe [Edit] [Delete] 21:15, 23 November '14

Posting again, posted this by accident on the Social Board. But is it important for artists to maintain "credibility" at all times? Is it excusable for "credible" bands every now and then to let their guard drop and have a bit of a laugh, perhaps to avoid the pitfalls of pop culture/artistic snobbery, or just for the sake of mindless self-indulgence? Can't think of any examples right now, okay... here's one... Primal Scream - Riot City Blues. Here's another - Weezer with that "u wot m8" Beverly Hills song. Here's just one more - David Bowie re-releasing the Laughing Gnome (and what the hell was all that about?), in 1973 at the height of his fame and critical acclaim?
