looking for a lead guitarist

rodmayes [Edit] [Delete] 11:39, 4 November '14

Dear Guitarists,

We are looking for a suitable lead guitarist for a progressive rock band. We compose very original music that does not look to imitate previous progressive bands, more craft and develop our own unique style. It really is impossible for us to give examples of direct influences as it is so varied, so it is probably best just to have a listen! Please message me and I will send you the link to view the songs online.

We are a 5 piece band (including the lead guitarist role). Drums, Bass, Electroacousitic, Keyboard/Synthesizers, Lead Guitar. There are 2 main singers but everyone joins in with vocals at certain point. The band encourages it's members to bring all it can to the table with no limits - hence hearing flute, violin, and xylophone within the music at various points. At the moment we have 2 albums already written (you would just have to learn the parts as they are written) but beyond this we take a group approach to creating/improvising/composing/arranging.

The band has management in place, and is preparing for a tour of the USA, and it is likely to be signed by a major record label in the near future.

It is important that the applicant meets the following criteria:

Male
Accomplished lead guitarist
Versatile performance skills - proficient at performing in a variety of styles
Singing skills (for backing vocals)
Good teamwork, communication, and organisation qualities.

Style: It is important for us to work as a balanced group where all the performers work together to produce a unified satisfying sound. If you like to stand constantly in the limelight and litter music with endless glitzy virtuoso guitar solos then this is definitely not the band for you. The best way to describe what would be most suitable is Steve Hackett's approach to Genesis - seeing the guitar as an equal force to the other forces in the group that can comfortably sit in the background or foreground of the music.

To apply, please send a description of yourself that can include your experience, aspirations and detail your skills as a musician. Please also include a video recording or youtube link that clearly demonstrates your abilities as a lead guitarist.

The deadline for receiving applications is Wednesday 5th November.

If you have any questions, wish to listen to any of our music, or find out more about the band, please feel free to contact me at leadguitarapplications@gmail.com

Many thanks,

Rod Mayes
