Ian William Craig's A Turn of Breath deserves it's own thread

wonton [Edit] [Delete] 16:48, 17 September '14

One of the best discoveries I've made on this website in years, found it on the recommended albums 2014 thread. brainfeedr gives a very good desciption:

Ian William Craig - A Turn of Breath

LIYL Julianna Barwick, William Basinski, Sean McCann, Grouper, possibly Tim Hecker, etc. etc.

Looped choral vocals over decaying tape loops, bathed in noise and fuzz, on Sean McCann's label Recital. Mercurial and a little haunting but with a heavy dose of the ecstatic. Sounds like devotional music pulled out of the wreckage of a burnt church's cellar and played at slightly the wrong speed.

You know when you hear an artist for a first time and they perfectly capture the excitement of something new/different alongside a guttural punch of heavy emotion? This album is a perfect example of that.
