Who or what do you trust for recommendations?

This article about why people are better than algorithms https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10152369305778145&id=19343183144 and it got me thinking.

With all the advances in technology, I haven't really changed how I decide which records to spend my time with. The web has sped up the process and made it easier but I still find myself looking to a hand-full of journalists, some radio shows and a few people I know. Also I tend to browse what the labels I like are releasing, and when I find something that I really like, I explore the artists label and other things that orbit around them (side-projects, producers, label mates, bands they've played with).

Who do you trust to turn you on to new things and to filter out the records worth revisiting/spending time with? Or do you use technology? Or just listen to loads and read everything, until you find things? (How much time do you spend if you do that?)
