Artists who were seen as the "swear word" of their era

PowerCorruptionNPies [Edit] [Delete] 16:21, 3 July '14

Not my personal opinions of their quality, just ones who were seen as a code word for "God, that band were the reason that era was bollocks"

i.e.

The NME "New Rock Revolution" (!) early 00s - Jet

Mid-90s/Britpop - Menswe@r (don't mind these guys at all, great pop, and Johnny Dean seems a really nice, genuine chap. Is it because their name dates them?)

Early 00s - The Rasmus (only know their big hit In the Shadows, but why were these guys hated so much? They just seemed like an average "quirky" band popular with teenage goths, and there was plenty of that in the charts back then that people could take or leave, like Him and Evanescence)

That strangely limp period around 86/87 before acid house, plus much hip hop, indie and alternative rock really got going - Johnny Hates Jazz/Climie Fisher/Curiosity Killed The Cat/Matt Bianco/Living in a Box (it seemed the better your band's name, the more you were mocked by critics.)
