Critically reviled albums you like...

funkycow [Edit] [Delete] 10:30, 1 July '14

So Real Life by Simple Minds - the onset (? robluvsnic to thread) of their full out blustery U2 ape-ing. That said, I've always loved it. Real Life, See The Light and Let There Be Love are a great opening trio - Banging On The Door, Woman, When Two Worlds Collide and Rivers Of Ice have lovely contemplative atmopshere. Ghost Rider is pretty funky. Even the slightly embarrassing tribal percussion on African Skies is still pretty tuneful. I struggle to get into their earlier stuff...

So what critically reviled albums (particularly if they are from generally well regarded bands) do you really like? Do you find yourself getting into bands with long back catalogues via the 'wrong' album?
