Brit-pop vs Brit-rock

sean [Edit] [Delete] 18:04, 10 April '14

20 years on from Brit-pop and 10-15 years on from what was dubbed "brit-rock", which genre means more to you?

What was brit-rock? Just posted the following little outburst on Facebook after seeing the 25th old fart grumble about Brit-pop:

Is the Brit-rock revival happening yet? Reef, Muse, Ash, 3 Colours Red, Idlewild, Symposium, 'a', Cay, Cable, Stereophonics, Twist, Llama Farmers, Seafood, 'Song 2'... And I guess Cooper Temple Clause, Hope of the States, Biffy Clyro, Reuben, thisGIRL, Aereogramme and My Vitriol were the trail end of it.
It's probably worth resurrecting this maligned non-genre simply to annoy snobby people (critics, mostly) who like to belittle, publicly demean and moan about anything and everything that doesn't conform to their ideals. It isn't Albini-approved, BBC4-friendly nostalgia bait and isn't certified "authentic" by the Bored Board and it certainly doesn't fit within your bubble of "authenticity"!? Get over yourself and spend more time babbling about what you're passionate about, rather than what you're against. (this is precisely why I started a website/"online fanzine" in the first place)
