Don't agree with absolutely everything in his piece (been a few good issues of Nme of late, and they have some great people there, but...) but I feel far less alone (Alex Turner impersonating Macca being The Goons, reeling off silly sound bites from his sub-conscious was embarrassing, rather than a call to arms FFS!) and far more alive reading this.

It'll take a generation of people endlessly recommending sub-standard music ("it's SO new, it's SO exciting [embed code]" all-day, everyday, until you get a job scouting for a label for 2years and then move back in with your parents...), never sticking their neck out for the things they truly love to hold "us" back. What's worse, is that when these hip young adverb slingers do scream about something - much like the boy who cried wolf - we've already grown deaf to their shrieks and tired of the fan who repeatedly cried "awesome!" The whole music press and much of the music biz is suffering from the tyranny of newness, rather than greatness, but I digress...
