The Quietus' Wreath Lectures

marckee [Edit] [Delete] 14:21, 13 December '13

The Quietus are doing their festive opinion pieces again, and they're worth reading.

http://thequietus.com/opinion/wreath-lectures

The first one was an attempt to look at the lyrics of Do They Know It's Christmas. I think it (maybe willfully) completely mis-read the tone and intention of a lot of the lines, but there you go: http://thequietus.com/articles/14076-band-aid-do-they-know-its-christmas-30th-anniversary

The second one is a piece on talking at gigs which is a familiar subject on these boards and expressed a sentiment that a surprising number of people, to judge from the online reaction, had never seen written down before: http://thequietus.com/articles/14099-talking-gigs-sound-pollution

But today's article is the one I want to link to. It's terrific. Well worth spending a few moments of your time reading: http://thequietus.com/articles/14114-country-life-british-politics-uncanny-music-art
