Where/when do you like to listen?

For me it's:

- In the car

Driving whilst listening to great music is one of the best things ever. Sometimes I look forward to a long drive because I know i can have a solid couple of hours of listening to a couple of albums. Also this is definitely the environment mixtapes are best enjoyed in. I don't know what it is but certain stuff just sounds better in the car - I have a vivid memory of just cruising around on a summer day listening to pavement and another of the sun coming up after driving all night during that Jon Hopkins album from this year.

- whilst playing computer games - specifically CM 01/02

Again i'm not sure what it is - the perfect mix between concentration/background music perhaps, but something about listening to albums whilst playing this game brings out stuff in the music I don't experience during other listens. Also works really well for Transport Tycoon.

- Late night with a drink, everybody else gone to bed

This one obviously works best for a certain kind of album - that Talons' album in particular is great for this, but I also love stuff like Loveless and the more mellow Nick Cave albums at these times. Again I get stuff out of the music in this environment that I don't otherwise.

I'm not really sure what i'm trying to say here. What are your favourite listening environments i guess?
