What've you been listening to? Optional Lasf.fm stats ahoy

Lambchops [Edit] [Delete] 14:58, 24 November '13

Top 5 only from me this week as anything else is just a single albums worth of listening.

1) future of the left - 58
2) Okkervil River - 33
3) Sleigh Bells - 31
4a) Cate le Bon - 20
4b) Alasdair Roberts & Robin Robertson - 20

2) I like the new album. The 80s sheen is a bit of a departure and while not up with their absolute best it works well. Haven't given it enough listens yet for my opinion to fully settle.

4a) First impressions of the new Cate le Bon are good. It's a bit more direct than Cyrk, which I think is a good thing as although Cyrk had some great moments it's an album I never really return to that often, seemed to lack a bit of cohesion. The track with Perfume Genius is brilliant - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyHQFs2bzL0

4b) Hirta Songs is perhaps not an album I'll listen to that often (there's a reading of a poem with some acoustic backing slap bang in the middle and while it seems to be good to me as that sort of things goes it's not something I'm inclined to listen to more than a couple of times), but it's really good at evoking a sense of place, which is a sign of some good folk music.
