I don't know. I always used to say it was pointless crying over boy bands or Nicki Minaj as they know they're not high art, the joke's on us. But when I hear about the apparent horrors of what "Kodaline" or "The 1975" sound like.. and some people pass this off as "proper edgy guitar music".. Jesus, we had exactly the same problem a decade ago when everyone liked Travis and Starsailor*!
