Another Future of Music thread, and again about CDs

wonton [Edit] [Delete] 14:39, 6 November '13

Basically, do you think there'll be a time, in the near or distant future, where the majority of releases are digital only? We've discussed CDs being obsolete before...but it's 2013 now and they have so far survived the growth of subscription streaming among other things. Is it reasonable to suggest that though the format has a marginal position, it could always be there due to a small but resilient demand?

I quite like my CD collection; I add about 10-20 CDs to it each year, still with the knowledge that it's largely for vanity...but I'll be safe when the millennium bug finally hits.
