Random Record Talk #4: Some Girls

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 08:48, 10 October '13

Rolling Stones

I know some people say Tattoo You (circa '81?), but for me Some Girls in '76 (?) was their last great record. A mighty great record at that.

I recall Mr Brainlove's "Rolling Stones are (just) a bar band" thread (long time ago). Maybe many of you share the same dismissive take. Poppycock, I say! Yeah, OK, a bar band. Best bar band ever, that's all! And, honest to god, the Stones covered a lot of stylistic territory to get pigeonholed like that.

Also: Songs are super easy to learn and play on guitar. Hella fun to get sloshed and play with yr mates in the garage. That all said, I never loved the Stones. I liked them. Like I liked Led Zeppelin. Still do, on both counts.

First things first: Beatles or Stones? (One of my fav break the ice things to say at parties when I can't think of anything clever to say.)

DiScuss: Some Girls

Also: Funny quips about Keith Richards are considered positive contributions to this thread.
