I've been trying to get into John Cale today, and first up was 'Paris 1919', the second song of which I realised pretty sharpish was basically this core of this song, my most listened-to of last year:

makes sense, who wouldn't want to hear that two note guitar with the organ and tambourine sampled, slowed down and looped. dude who made it was on heavy painkillers for a broken leg at the time. painkillers are cool.

and then there's the Slave to the Wage/Texas Never Whispers one, which blew my mind when I found out.

has this thread got legs?
