Music Social More…

A lack of diversity in music tastes

deep-blue [Edit] [Delete] 18:11, 6 March '13

I noticed that a lot of people like almost exactly the same music: Radiohead, Animal Collective, The Beatles, Joy Division, The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, Bob Dylan, Sigur Ros, Modest Mouse, Interpol, The National, The Cure, R.E.M., (sometimes) Kanye West and few others (usually Pitchfork approved artists). Almost EXACTLY the same artists on Top Artists over and over, like they have the same brain with exactly the same taste.

I wonder why that happens when you consider that:
1. tons of music are released every year
2. there's a lot of great but quite underground music
3. everyone has a different brain.

Where's the originality?
