Great songs from/featured in films

brainfeedr [Edit] [Delete] 22:14, 26 February '13

I'm going on my friend's radio show (which is about films but they play a few songs now and then) and need to think of a few of the best. So far:

- The Book of Right On - Joanna Newsom; put to fantastically creepy use in The Strangers.
- Hip to be Square - Huey Lewis & the News; soundtracked one of the funnier murders in the movie.
- Some Velvet Morning - Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood; apparently in Morvern Callar which I've never seen but I googled if this song was in a movie 'cause I need to play it out.
- Natural's Not in It - Gang of Four; anachronistically opens Marie Antoinette (which is shit apart from the opening).
- The Sound of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel.
- Strauss - Thus Spoke Zarathustra; 2001 has probably the best opening scene of all time mainly due to the use of this Strauss piece.
- In Dreams - Roy Orbison; put to surreal and terrifying use in Blue Velvet.

Which ones out of those should I play/suggest more...
