BAD HEDGE featuring Ham Legion, Folie A Deux Femme, The Display Team (23/02/13)

Guthrie [Edit] [Delete] 01:26, 18 February '13

Anticipating a DiS-mal turnout from readers of these pages, I gamely plug anyway:

It's been a wee while, but The Display Team brings Bad Hedge back to The Miller with some wonky sounds to try and cram incongruously into our oh-so-humanly shaped lug-holes. If you are not already conversant with Bad Hedge, our aim is to bring together bands that we deem interesting, in the hope of disseminating their work to a wider audience. This time around we have a fantastic headliner;

HAM LEGION - Hailing from Brighton, and in their own words;

"Ham Legion's noisy lo-fi pop is punctuated with proggy outbursts, psychadelic breakdowns and passages of cod-metal joy. Tangy and tart guitar, egg noodle bass lines and light crispy drums are smothered in gooey boy/girl harmonies. Eat in OR take away."

Their delightful sounds can be sampled right here - https://soundcloud.com/hamlegion

In the middle slot;

FOLIE A DEUX FEMME - Bass Clarinet and Harp duo, in the contemporary classical vein. But with funkier twists. Expect tonal, timbral and rhythmic surprises.

Opening the show;

THE DISPLAY TEAM - Once again, TDT are a six-brained beast with the recent arrival of Josh Perl, our new guitarist/singer. He is mighty fine. Expect twisted brain-wrongs from this collection of man-mentals (credit to Chris Morris for this phrase which I borrowed and modified). In case my terrible ineptitude at description is a barrier to knowing what I'm on about, our music is here - http://thedisplayteam.bandcamp.com/album/drones

Doors at 730pm, £5 in. It's going to be a cracker. Oh, and if you bring a miniature shrub of some kind, and make it suitably "bad", you can get a quid off the entry fee.

Please come, because you probably need to see these bands. Probably. Please?
