Music videos made while the artist was clearly having some kind of breakdown

I've just seen the video to the first Angel and Airwaves (the band that one of the blink-182 lot formed to play shit U2 covers) for the first time since it came out about 5 years ago and it's exceedingly clear to me that the singer is having some sort of mental breakdown. Why did the director let him make this video when he clearly should have been sent to a specialist somewhere?
