Last.fm and myspace - shower of shit

wheeldo [Edit] [Delete] 13:15, 27 November '10

Last.fm used to be brilliant, and I'm sure I remember a time when myspace was, at the very least, a useful site for bands. But it seems to me that they've both been gradually sliding down the pan for some time now.

Everyone knows myspace is basically dead - even myspace. No actual people use it for social networking anymore, and the site's become less and less user friendly, to the point where I can't even be bothered to log in to my band's page anymore because everything takes so fucking long.

Last.fm still has some use left in it for listeners, so I suppose it's not quite dead - but it's certainly moribund, especially for independent acts. I've been trying, and failing, to upload songs to my band's page for about a month now; it just constantly says the tracks are being added, and will be up in a few hours. I've contacted their tech support and got no reply. Way to go.

Is it time they both just admitted defeat, and made way for the much simpler soundcloud, bandcamp, etc?
