Ash A-Z series

seashellsweed [Edit] [Delete] 15:02, 27 September '10

Anyone else seriously impressed by the consistant quality of this? You don't really hear much about Ash here or in the music press generally, but I can't think of another band/artist that could release 26 singles + numerous bonus tracks (probably 40 or more songs in total) in a single year that didn't feature a bunch of guff filler. Jay Reatard got half way there, maybe, but he released far less songs in a year and it wasn't all good.

Nothing quite reaches the heights of Girl From Mars or Burn Baby Burn, but they've experimented with their sound and it's all good pop music. I know quite a few people don't like Tim's voice (his voice has been much more exposed since Charlotte left), but you can't deny his knack for pop songwriting. some of the lyrics post 2001 are pretty awful though, admittedly.

so.. best singles band ever?

(Oh, and Nu-Clear Sounds is criminally underrated. I'd even say it's their best..)
