Why is Let It Be regarded as a misstep in the latterday Beatles catalogue?

SCROTUM [Edit] [Delete] 17:42, 4 September '10

It's regarded as the weakest post-Rubber Soul album by a lot of parties, and some go further to say it's a really poor footnote to their career. Rolling Stone gave it 3 stars only six years ago.

How come? Granted, it's not their peak, but it contains some of their best tracks - Across The Universe is absolutely sublime, I Me Mine slays and Get Back is stripped back, classic Beatles. And those are the choice cuts.

Do you rate or slate it?
