Touring vs Record Sales = economics fail (even for the Queen of social media Imogen Heap)

sean [Edit] [Delete] 12:19, 26 May '10

Even Imogen Heap, with 1.4million twitter followers can't seem to make touring work.

So, has anyone heard any tales of who's investing in live music? It can't be left to record labels any more. There are alsorts of brands sponsoring venues but little of that goes to the artist. There are major management companies investing in some new acts but surely, when the live industry is meant to be booming http://www.prsformusic.com/aboutus/press/latestpressreleases/Pages/Livemusiccontinuestooutperform.aspx

Anyone have any creative solutions? If things aren't financially sustainable does that mean ticket prices will rise or that there will be less gigs as acts, even biggish acts, are forced to work full-time jobs?
