Advice for a potential clubnight / pipedream

SurfsUp [Edit] [Delete] 23:32, 11 July '09

I've been thinking for ages about putting together a powerpop / pop punk / rock clubnight in London but there's a few things I'm unsure of. Firstly whether anyone would be interested, secondly whether any venues would take a chance on hosting a night which is based on fairly geeky music, and lastly if my choice of music is likely to appeal to anyone other than people in their mid to late 20's!

Bands I would probably play include: Weezer, New Porno's, RFTC, NOFX, Ben Folds, Teenage Fanclub, The Beatles, The Exploding Hearts, JEW, The Cars, Get Up Kids, Favours For Sailors, Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello, Descendants, Fountains of Wayne, Big Star, Wildhearts, Blink 182, Yo La Tengo, Brendan Benson, Apples In Stereo, Beach Boys, The Dwarves, Beulah, Weakerthans, Belle & Sebastian, Futureheads and a whole load of random powerpop tracks I've amassed over the years...

The theme of the night would basically be music that's unpretentious, fun, upbeat and rocking and I'd want it to be an antithesis to hipsterish indie nights.

If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated, particularly with regard to potential venues - thanks!
