Underrated albums of the past few years: Shapes and Sizes - Split Lips, Winning Hips, A Shiner

amnuck [Edit] [Delete] 16:19, 3 March '09

I listened to the first 4 songs of this this morning and I remembered how great it is. I think it could possibly grate on some people given the girl's singing voice and the fect that it's really fun in a very earnest way but they just have so many ideas and every second is filled with enthusiasm, like they're never happy to just coast.
'Head Movin'' is totally uplifting; 'The Taste In My Mouth' is beautiful and takes its time to be epic;
Some of it's just weird and kind of annoying in a almost contrived way but I love how it has an inability to not make an impression on the listener. I like how they're Trying Stuff Out. I like how the guitars sound vaugely Deerhoof-ian at times.
I don't like this album THAT much, but I think it's worthy of more attention.
