Recently maligned, the concept record has some notable exceptions to the rule...the rule being concept records are shite. Let us show a nameless someone here those exceptions.

Mansun - Six. You really gotta give Paul Draper kudos just for the about-face this album is when compared with Attack of the Grey Lantern, which itself could also be considered something of a great concept album.

I wanna mention an American band but the closest I can think of off-hand is maybe the Pixies' Bossonova, though not really a concept album in the strict sense, eh? But I think a consistent weird spacey-shite qualifies. :-)
