Why don't more bands put their songs up for download on MySpace?

beautiful_balloon [Edit] [Delete] 18:03, 21 March '07

This is something that annoys me a little, when you get a band who are just starting out who disallow downloads from their MySpace.

Fair enough if you're a bigger, signed act and would prefer people to purchase your latest single for example, but why do so many new bands inhibit their own exposure by not allowing people to own a copy of the song?

Unless you faff about with recording software it means you can't put the song on your ipod, or burn it onto a CD to listen to in the car, or give a copy to your friends to listen to. You have to sit there like a dork streaming it from myspace player - hardly optimum listening experience

It seems a little conceited if bands feel that their material is somehow too worthy to be given away for free - Bands like Hadouken! and Arctic Monkeys offer(ed) all their songs for free download and it massively helped their exposure -

so yeah, allow free downloads new bands
