Quantiy vs Quality?

restlessboy [Edit] [Delete] 12:44, 2 March '07

which is better?

A band who release one album every 2 to 3 years which has 10-12 songs all which fall into the good/very good category but all of which are pretty much tailored as proper 'commercial' album tracks.

A band who release at least one album a year plus possibly an EP or two. Live cds. radio session. collaborations. singles with b-sides. The quality varies, some songs/versions you wouldn't listen to more than a couple of times ever but nothing actually crap, some very good/excellent stuff and mostly good. BUT you never quite know from one release to the next what the quality's going to be like.

Basically would you rather hear pretty much everything an artist/group does and get a picture of how they work what their experiments and hits/misses are like. Or do you just want the hits?

DiScuss.
