"The greatest band since the Clash"

thephotobooth [Edit] [Delete] 13:45, 25 February '07

Quibble: Why is everything the greatest thing since the Clash? And not only that, why is everything the greatest thing - to cite an example that you all think is dubious anyway - three weeks ago, the NME had a cover story saying "Gallows, the greatest punk band since the Clash". Then, the Oasis issue said "The world's greatest living band", then the current issue said something like "The world's greatest band" about the Arcade Fire.

"Greatest" is bandied about a bit much for a word that should only describe one, superlative thing, methinks.
